Many companies are running a business model innovation management program because of reasons like;
- Changing market conditions and the need to adjust the customer relationships
- Changing industry trends and the need to adjust the value propositions
- Changing economic climate and the need to adjust the business strategy
- Changing governmental regulations and the need to adjust the operational processes (e.g. by using the capabilities of the SAP platform and new technologies like IoT and 3D printing)
All these reasons are input for a regular revised and aligned business model which is required to optimize profitability and create synergy within the organization.
During the next VNSG ADM expert group meeting (15 september) in the Neterlands, the different aspects of "Business Model Innovation management in a SAP environment" will be discussed. The agenda is as follows;
1 Introduction of the Business Model Innovation management framework

Abstract; The Osterwalder business model canvas can be used to define the business model(s) of your organization and analyse the impact of business model innovations. The business model innovation management framework contains 20 categories of innovations which have been applied to improve the business model of other companies. The Business Model Innovation management framework can be used to identify business model innovations projects which could be successful within your company. The feasibility of the business model innovations is also dependent on the capabilities of the available (SAP) platforms. Every company should have their own business model innovation management project portfolio.

2 Business Model Innovations using the SAP commercial platform
Abstract; The objective of the SAP commercial platforms (e.g. SAP Hybris commerce, SAP Hybris Marketing, SAP C4C, SAP CRM) is to deliver an omni-channel seamless buying experience across physical stores, online web-shops, social networks and mobile devices. The SAP Hybris platform is supported by several predefined E2E integration scenario’s (e.g. for B2C, B2B , PIM) with the SAP CRM and SAP ERP business suite. The SAP Hybris omni-channel can be used to implement commercial business model innovations to improve the customer intimacy. (e.g. changes in management of customer relationships and delivery channels). During this session the capabilities of the SAP Hybris platform, required to implement a few example customer intimacy business model innovations, will be discussed.
3 Business Model Innovations using the SAP procurement platform
Abstract; The objective of the SAP procurement platforms (e.g. SAP Ariba and SAP SRM) is to deliver a strategic sourcing and supplier management platform for products, services, workforce and travel. The SAP procurement platforms also offers an integrated platform for category management, supplier integration, product information management (PIM) and Digital Asset Management (DAM). The SAP procurement platforms can be used to implement procurement business model innovations to improve product leadership. (e.g. category management with buy or make decisions and product value packages). During this session the capabilities of the SAP procurement platform, required to implement a few example product leadership business model innovations, will be discussed.
4 Business Model Innovations using the SAP operational excellence platform
Abstract; The objective of the SAP operational excellence platforms (e.g. SAP SCM and SAP FI/CO) is to deliver an integrated logistical and financial environment. The SAP operational excellence platforms need a sound basis: The Business Operating Model. The Business Operating Model policies can deliver significant operational AND strategic benefits for an organization. In this session, 2 customer related Business Operating Models for both the manufacturing and service industry will be discussed and the related required SAP functionality (e.g the single entity concept) will be shown.
5 Management of the Business Model Innovation portfolio
Abstract; The business model innovation project portfolio must be input for the business transformation program. The business model innovation project portfolio must be aligned by the CIO with all relevant stakeholders in order to create the required synergy.
